The colors and design projected onto the Gouda City Hall change every minute or two. You can see the difference with the previous 2 photos.
There is an ice skating rink in front of the building.

Light show at the Gouda City Hall.

Friday, December 25, 2009

Each holiday season Gouda offers a light show on the City Hall. This year, the show was designed by kids from a local school. It is a spectacular sight and with the snow on the ground this Christmas, it's quite extraordinary.

More winter scenes. It's just so delicate.

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

This is the road on which I live. Typical of our area are these willows (not weeping) which are planted along the canals for reenforcement in the ground. We have had an unusually big snowfall this season, the biggest in 25 years.

Computer Crashed-limited photo selection!

This lovely tree stump is an example of dept of field. Sharp in the front and blurred in the back. It was taken in the fall. Right now it is -5C/21F and would love to put some snow pictures on the blog. When the PC is fixed I'll share our gorgeous but very COLD winter scenes.

This is one of my first collages, made nearly 2 years ago. Tulips in a vase!
This photo is from the series: my computer is broken and my temp photo file is limited.

Hey, Ollie Bollie! My desktop computer has crashed and I only have a few old photos in my laptop.

This is Sinter Klaas. Today is his birthday! He came from Spain in his steamboat and was accompanied by his Black Peters (Moors in days of yore). He is bringing the children presents and treats.

This legend is where we get our Santa Claus from.

It's my mother's buffet table.

I wonder if Julia Child would approve this hors d'ouvre.
It was served at the "Club" for a special occasion.

Friday, November 20, 2009

This was so unbelievably nostalgic: REAL American "fine" cooking. I learned to love cauliflower with cheese sauce from the frozen Stouffers packaged food. Yum!
On the left there's a gorgeous piece of juicy lobster. And the rice is a mixture of wild and brown rice.

Thursday, November 19, 2009

This is not the kind of food photo I wanted to post. I wanted to post a beautifully cooked juicy piece of meat and vegetables. I just watched Julie and Julia and have been totally inspired to make foodie fotos. Maybe soon! Unfortunately, I don't have very interesting food at home. A pan of black-eyed peas with the greyish gravy just doesn't do it for me. And the saddest part is that I'm the cook.
...more to come.
