For those of you who are students of photography, I have placed 5 examples of the different types of scenes you can explore in one location. Using different perspectives you will gain more insight into your subject matter. This also shows how a dreary, cloudy day can be beneficial in creating the mood of the image.

This was all we could see. And it was enough. The trucks were cleaned and sterilized before leaving the infected premises. The owner was interviewed and it was broadcast on local TV. The future of his environmentally friendly, natural-feed milk sheep looks grim as long as they are not allowed to reproduce. The milk supply will run out and no new lambs will be born.

The tragedy of Q Fever. These little guys have been infected with Coxiella burnetii, a bacterium that affects humans and other animals. Our area is now quarantined and 100s of sheep and goats will be destroyed in the coming days. The livelihood of many farmers and businesses in the area will be tested. This is truly heart-wrenching.

This historic estate was photographed during the 6th annual Illuminated Historic Farms celebration. This building received (inter)national recognition after it was used as the location for filming the television series "Het wassende water" (washing waters), taken from the book by regional author Herman de Man. The oldest section of this building dates back to 1639. The front side is the richest example of all historic farms located in the Krimpenerwaard.

During the period of January 27 and February 12, the Dutch province of South Holland celebrated its 6th annual "Illuminated Historic Farms". This time it was held in my area, which is known as the Krimpenerwaard. There are hundreds of farms, however not all are actually working farms. Many have been converted into estate homes, studios and businesses. There were 107 historic farms and windmills illuminated in the freezing evenings in all their glory. This photograph is a rough sketch of the oldest of all the houses, dating back to 1597. The text on the building "tot hier an toe" means "until here" which refers to the location of this house at the border between two villages: Vlist and Bergambacht.
